message from our sUPERINTENDENT, dR. ETHAN HILDRETh

Dear DAA Community,

As I shared in my recent video message, it is an honor and privilege to work with our amazing Dubai American Academy as we make tremendous strides forward. Our educational offer, our focus on student wellbeing and inclusion, our student outcomes, and the vibrant enhancements of our premium facilities support student learning in extraordinary ways.

I am beyond delighted to share our state-of-the-art Middle School block that makes DAA a continued leader as a premium school, not only in Dubai but in the world. The ambitious learning spaces combine with exemplary aesthetics and grounds to provide the best premium plus international education. Combined with our continuing powerful progress in student achievement, these enhancements place DAA on a trajectory of success for years to come.

As we make these confident strides forward in continuous improvement, important principles remain key to our DAA foundation. Our amazing school emphasizes care, respect, and kindness among all community members that sets Dubai American Academy apart. Let me encourage all to thoughtful understanding of others, seeking every opportunity to make someone’s day a little better and brighter. This is our character, the DAA Culture of Kindness.

In the words of one of our seniors summarizing the DAA ethos, “We will do what we always do as DAA students, give our best. And our teachers will do what they always do, giving their best to us.”

Thank you DAA for all you do to make life better and brighter for so many,

Ethan

KEY INFORMATION

Campus for Cause

As you would have received in our email earlier this week, the decision has been made by GEMS Education to suspend celebratory events at the school until further notice. We believe events of a celebratory nature would be inappropriate given the current circumstances as an international education provider.

What this means for DAA is that our set calendar days will remain, including the early dismissal Nov 13 and no school for Nov 23-24.

At DAA we embody a Culture of Kindness and in recognition of this we are launching an initiative to be a Campus for Cause. Our celebratory events will be replaced with multiple fundraising initiatives across the month of November, organized by DAA, Students & DAAPA.

Our fundraising initiatives for November will be to support the humanitarian efforts of the UAE’s campaign ‘Tarahum (Compassion) for Gaza’, supervised by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Community Development. GEMS Education has partnered with Emirates Red Crescent to launch a fundraising campaign across all schools.

From November 3-30, Dubai American Academy will be collecting donations in-kind at the main entrance.

Thank you for your support and contributions that will make a real difference to the people in need.

eXCITING ADDITIONS COMING TO DAA

We will be developing a new, purpose-built Middle School block adjacent to our current campus. This enhancement allows us to future proof our current students' learning with bespoke teaching spaces, common learning spaces, a new canteen, gym, research library and specialist sports facilities such as six tennis courts with lights and more.

We look forward hosting two parent information sessions to present the Middle School block, facilities and answer your questions directly:

Session one: Monday, November 20: 4-5pm, Auditorium

Session two: Monday, November 27: 8-9am, Auditorium

For these sessions, you may share your questions with us via this google form: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSf-Cn8LJC2JJfm0DvE4j9QK5Jp5qIk2BVDdkeHVuGlwRO6f5A/viewform

DAA Listens

At DAA we are committed to communicating effectively with our families. We believe that open communication between home and school is a vital component of our student’s success.

We are excited to continue our communication channel within our school community, DAA Listens. By scanning this QR code you will be able to share your compliments, comments or concerns directly with our Superintendent Dr Hildreth. There are 6 mailboxes located around the school, where students and parents can drop a postcard. Either method will ensure that Dr. Hildreth will receive the communication and that a member of staff will be back in touch with you quickly.

Your voice is highly valued and we look forward to listening to your feedback as we collectively seek to enhance every student’s experience at our school.
