Happy Principal's Day

We would like to wish a very special Happy Principal's Day to our outstanding leaders, Mrs. Tammy Murphy, Mrs. Tamara Jochinke, Dr. Justin Reynolds, and Mr. Craig Cantlie.

Our students, staff and entire learning community are grateful for all that you do!

One billion meals

We would like to thank our entire learning community for your generous donations to the 1 Billion Meals initiative. Our school goal was initially set for 10,000 AED, but our amazing community met and exceeded this goal within three days! We have since increased our goal to 50,000 AED and we know we will be able to achieve this with your continued support.

Please watch the video below from our Zayed Crew, to learning more about the initiative.

Traffic Safety

The safety of our students, staff and learning community is always our first priority. We have put multiple reminders in previous SPOTS editions regarding traffic safety in front of our school, however this important matter warrants additional focus.

The school continually utlizes our resources to ensure that students, staff and families enter and exit safely. Our security and support teams have all received Dubai Police and RTA traffic management training and are assigned to the roads in front of the school to manage the traffic daily. In addition, we are in constant communication with RTA and the Dubai Police, who regularly attend school and will support with traffic management during busy times.

Unfortunately, one area of safety concern is the empty sand lot across the street from the school, as many families have reported that vehicles are using this illegal space. Dubai American Academy does not have any jurisdiction over this area of land, however we would like to again discourage our families from using the area, as proper driving lanes and parking spaces are not allocated, which puts our children at risk.

DAA also is proud of our strong Culture of Kindness and we work with students at every age to teach them how to embody this notion. As educators, we know one of the best ways for students to learn is through example. This is why it is so important for this Culture of Kindness to be demonstrated in school, at home, and even while sitting in traffic. Modeling safe driving techniques, polite dialogue and empathy for others lays a strong foundation for children to build on and we truly appreciate our families for being upstanding members of our community.

If you would like a reminder about where you can and cannot park, how to report dangerous driving, or other past traffic related messages, please click on the below images to re-read those posts in archived SPOTS editions.
