Hello everyone, 

My name is Hania Inam and I am in Grade 11 and I want to talk to you about a situation that is very close to me.

Pakistan is currently facing one of the worst natural disasters in history which has affected 33 million people. With one third of the country under water, millions of people have been displaced from their homes and have had their livelihoods destroyed, and the repercussions of this disaster only intensify each day. 

In collaboration with the Emirates Red Crescent, I will be leading a donation drive and collecting essential everyday items as well as cash donations. For that, I need you, the DAA community! 

You will be able to find donation boxes at all divisional receptions and cash donation boxes at the High School reception and multiple around the lobby. Your donation makes a difference, no matter how big or small. I look forward to seeing your contributions.

Wellness Unpacked

We are familiar with the word “wellness” and we now know it is something we should be considering in our lives. But what is wellness, and how can it help us?

Dan Buettner, author of many books regarding the World’s Blue Zones, considers wellness to be; “Free of Disease and waking up the majority of  morning and feeling like an 8, 9 or 10”.

The Global Wellness Institute defines wellness as the active pursuit of activities, choices and lifestyles that lead to a state of holistic health.

DAA is committed to being a school that considers the Wellness of our entire learning Community. There will now be a dedicated section in Spots Newsletters highlighting DAA wellness and offering tips and resources to improve and understand wellness. In our Spots section we will also be letting our community know what we are doing as a school and ideas around how you and your family and pursue your own wellness.
