"Resilience skills for empty nest moms to be"

If one of your children has already left to join university abroad or about to leave, this event is for you!!

If your son or daughter is in high school and planning to join university abroad in the next 2-3 years, this event is for you too!!!! We all want our children to grow and be independent, but this doesn’t mean that should feel lonely, sad, full of grief when it is time for them to leave our nest to join college or later in life to lead their independent life, work , marry and have their own families. Women usually suffer more than men from those feelings of depression, sadness and loss of purpose especially if they are full-time mothers. Moms tend to deny the situation sometimes to be able to proceed but suppression is not the solution. Solution is in acknowledging, understanding, accepting , copying and even flourishing 😊💪🏻🌷.

Learning to cope with this transition is important to start in advance through building your resilience skills. It is not right to just focus on our children , we need to be ready and prepared for this because simply It is your GROWTH TIME!!!

Join our free session to learn more about empty nest syndrome , its causes, symptoms and what kind of skills needed to cope with this transition.

Middle School and High School parents!

Come and celebrate the Holiday Season together!

HS Thanksgiving Celebration

Every year, the HS Student Government puts together one of DAA’s great traditions. The Thanksgiving Lunch. It is a time for all high schoolers to get together in a formal setting to eat a meal together and reflect on what they are thankful for. This year the event will be taking place on Thursday November 21st. The lunch is catered, but each year parents throw on their aprons and in a flurry of flour and flying utensils, whip up some amazing desserts from the traditional apple pie and brownies to creative and unique treats.

If you have aspirations of opening your own bakery or simply wanting to give back, we would love to have you provide a dessert. Here are some parameters:

  • Consider making something that could feed ~30 students. If we get 30 such desserts we have covered the whole HS population.
  • Please use disposable trays/dishes as it is too hard to chase down dishes as the caterers frantically try to clean up their massive set of dishes and trays.
  • DAAPA will have a table in the atrium/lobby where your desserts can be dropped off. Please do not send desserts elsewhere because they may not make it to the right place on time.
  • Deadline for desserts will be Thursday 21st @ 10:00 am.
