Dear DAA Middle School Families,

It has been great to visit our classrooms and see the engagement from our students in the class and from home. Our teachers have been doing a great job setting up and adjusting to a different platform, troubleshooting student technology issues, and teaching! I also appreciate your ongoing support to ensure that students are logging in on time and participating from home.

Finally, I want to thank you for putting your trust in the DAA Middle School staff. I know it may have made many families uneasy to see the positive cases come out of middle school last week. Please know that we are adhering to strict sanitization guidelines and our teachers continue to reinforce hand washing, social distancing, and wearing masks. Everyday, you put your child in our care and I pledge to do my very best to make sure they return to you safely at the end of each day.

Google Classroom

As you know, DAA is moving to the Google Classroom platform as Phoenix Classroom is being enhanced. One of our teachers has created a document for parents/guardians to help navigate the platform. Kudos to Mrs. Compton for sharing!

I'm Having Technical Issues

Many of the Zoom issues have been taken care of, but if you are still having trouble, please check out one of the videos below to make sure your child is signing on using the SSO.

If you are not able to sign on using your SSO, have your child submit this form so IT can look into it. Please know that we will be locking down Zoom so students will only be able to log in using their @gemselearning account soon.

If there are still issues, be sure to raise a ticket after the teacher has been contacted. Simply send an email to studenthelpdesk@gemsdaa.net and they will help resolve the issue.

Our A/B Schedule

Sunday, September 27 will mark the beginning of Week 1. We will expect the A group on campus. Here's a is a reminder of our A/B schedule.

Stu Williamson Photos

Stu Williamson will be on site in the Middle School next week from Sunday, September 27th – Thursday, October 1st to take our annual individual student photos. Stu Williamson (SW) will be following all DHA guidelines as they relate to CoVid 19.

Photos will be taken in blocks throughout the week based on the A/B grouping. Date and time will be shared with students via google classroom. Students are requested to wear their...

polo or a button down shirt, either the new uniform top or the light blue top from last year.
Ties are no longer required.
If your child has PE on picture day, please send them in proper polo or button uniform.
Dark blue outerwear will be removed for photos– jumpers/pull-overs/jackets, etc.

Make-up photos for absent students will be taken on campus October 11th, 12th and 13th. Students on 100% remote learning have an opportunity to have their photo taken at the SW studio during the week of the 4th - 8th October. You must book an appointment as detailed on the attached flyer. Alternatively, should the situation change allowing student return to campus, we will schedule an additional make-up day on campus later in the year.
