ELEMENTARY
November 5, 2020
Dear Elementary Families,
This week we held virtual assemblies for all students in the elementary. During this time of COVID restrictions we understand the need to continue to connect our students with those beyond their classroom walls and this was a wonderful experience for them.
On Wednesday morning at 8:00am we kicked off our three virtual assemblies with Ms. Salameh leading our grade 4 and 5 students, Ms. Bishara hosting grades 2 and 3 and Ms. Gandhi orchestrating the KG1, KG2 and Grade 1 virtual gathering. Students in-class and at home all were able to be together for these events.
As this is a community event, we had representation from the whole community involved. Teachers, our counselors, students and administrators all contributed to this event that:
Celebrated students who demonstrated Leopard Pride;
Showcased classroom learning;
Challenged students to participate in Dubai 30x30;
Shared lessons from Islamic learning;
Recognized our community helpers;
Built excitement for our MAP assessments next week;
Celebrated ‘joy’.
Given our theme of interconnectedness this trimester, it was a fantastic way for us to connect our community. I think the one thing we all observed was the spirit of joy that we saw on our students’ faces; especially our students at home.
Even though we continue to exist in a time of social distancing where protective measures of health and safety are top of mind, we cannot forget that connection, virtual or in-person, is key to the well-being of our students. We look forward to creating more community events such as this, as the school year moves forward.
Sincerely,
Craig Cantlie
JERSEY DAY THIS MONDAY!
IT’S JERSEY DAY ON MONDAY
Our Elementary School is beginning our annual fall assessments. During our assemblies this week and in our classrooms we have been building excitement around this opportunity for students to really demonstrate their learning achievement.
To carry on the tradition we started last year, we will kick off with Jersey Day on Monday, the day before we begin our assessments.
We look forward to students wearing their favourite team jersey/shirt. The DAA PE shirts are a great team shirt if you don’t have a jersey at home.
