MIDDLE SCHOOL

September 7th, 2021

Dear DAA Middle School Families,

We are already in the middle of our second week of school!  Students and staff are settling into the routine and shifting their focus to their content areas.  Last week, our staff focused on creating positive and inviting learning environments to welcome back ALL students to school; some who have not been in the classroom for almost 18 months!  We are so proud of our school community as we reflect back on their resilience and optimism and look forward to an inspiring, individualized, and interconnected school year!

Back to School Night!

Back to School Night at DAA Middle is on September 13 at 6pm.  We look forward to seeing you via Zoom.  We are so excited to have you meet with your child’s team of teachers as they discuss what the curriculum will look like in each of their subject areas!

General Information

Tardies

Students are now feeling more comfortable and confident in navigating their way to class.  Please note that we are marking tardies now, so please encourage your child to find their way to class quickly to ensure they are on time.  If they get a little lost in the halls, don’t worry!  Our staff are stationed throughout the halls and able to help direct them to the correct classroom.

Early Dismissals

To keep the safety of our students a priority, please make the Attendance Secretary aware ahead of time if you wish for your child to leave early for the day. They will be given an early dismissal slip which should then be handed to security on the way out.  You can reach Mrs. Barbara by phone at 04 704 9728 or by email at msattendance_daa@gemsedu.com.

After School Activities

Soon, the middle school will begin our after-school activities!  Teachers will be providing various activities during lunchtime and after school in which students are encouraged to participate.  More information will be coming later this month.

I’m Having Technical Issues!

Many of the sign in issues have been taken care of, but if you are still having trouble, please make sure to raise a ticket after the teacher has been contacted.  Simply send an email to studenthelpdesk@gemsdaa.net and they will help resolve the issue.

Updated DHA Protocols

Although the protocols have loosened up a bit, we still need to reinforce safety precautions for all students. Please have conversations at home about the importance of wearing a mask properly (over the nose), social distancing, and washing hands/sanitizing when possible. Thank you for your continued support in keeping DAA a safe and healthy learning environment for our students and staff members!

I hope you all stay well,

Justin ReynoldsPrincipal, DAA Middle School

C.R.E.W

As a reminder, T&D is now called C.R.E.W.

Recognizing how important this daily time is in our student’s lives, we wanted the name to reflect what is really at the heart of homeroom time. Therefore, along with high school, we have renamed this class to reflect the vital work that is done there: Community, Relationships, Empathy and Wellbeing or C.R.E.W. will be the new name of this lesson.
