HIGH SCHOOL

September 7th, 2021

Dear Parents,

Words cannot express how happy we are to have your children back here on campus as well as those joining virtually. Their energy has revived us and brought us such joy this past week and a half.  Seeing your children reconnect with friends and staff members reminds us how important personal relationships are to a high quality learning environment.

Below you will find a snapshot of how we started our first day of school. We started with relationship and community building through our new advisory program- CREW.  This stands for Community-Relationships-Empathy-Well-being.  Each grade level had small group and grade level meetings and activities as well as students meeting all teachers ahead of the traditional academic week.

Back to school night is fast approaching.  This will be held on September 14th, starting at 5:45 and will be held via zoom. We will ask your children to create a schedule for you with all zoom links to support the easy transition from class to class. During this time you will first meet your child’s CREW teacher and all academic teachers in 10 minute sessions.

We look forward to seeing you on back to school night and during the year. You are our true partner in helping us provide the best learning experience for your child and we are grateful for your feedback and support as always.

With Gratitude,

Tammy Jochinke

High School Principal

Community-Relationships-Empathy-Well-being

Day 1- After such a long time apart, the HS was thrilled to open all doors and welcome our returning and new students with a full day with CREW. We started the year focusing on interconnectedness and relationships to help students feel safe and set the tone for a successful return to campus. Students and staff engaged in activities and lessons ranging from organization to schedule walk-through to personal reflection.

Some quotes from students included: “so glad we started with a day like that” and said they “wish we could start like that every year!”

Staff alike thought the day was “great and really an excellent way to start the year” and that “for the kids to see their entire schedules and meet all their teachers, especially the 9th graders” was beneficial.

We are grateful to our staff and students for committing to wellbeing and relationships to build interconnectedness in our community!
