SUPERINTENDENT'S MESSAGE

Mrs. Tammy Murphy shares her final video message with our DAA Community for the 2018-2019 academic year. Watch as she highlights exciting future plans for our campus as we move forward in our journey of becoming the most innovative school in the world.

Operations & security/ lost and found

This year, we have had 105 valuable lost and found items returned to their rightful owners.

Our lost property still contains many items including the listed ones below. If you think these items could belong to you please see DAA Security/Operations teams.

  1. Five headsets with different brands (wireless and with cord)
  2. One Casio calculator
  3. Two sunglasses
  4. One Apple wrist watch and a child’s wrist watch
  5. Fashion ring and necklace
  6. One fashion ring for child
  7. Apple earbud charger
  8. Money purse
  9. Eyeglasses casing

Next week as we do every term all lost and found item will be put on display at the front of the school for parents to have one final check. Items left unclaimed by June 27th will be donated.

Unfortunately this year we have had several items reported missing, believed to be theft. The school keeps records of these incidents to see if a pattern can be determined and reviews CCTV surrounding suspected incidents. Should our CCTV provide any conclusive evidence, the authorities will be contacted. Changing rooms cannot be covered by CCTV. Our PE teams encourage students to bring along their personal belongings with them to PE lessons so that they are not left unattended. In addition, our middle and high school student are provided with lockers to store items for safekeeping. Where possible we would encourage staff and students not to bring cash and valuables to school. Our cafeterias have a cash free option as well. Should bringing cash and valuables into school be unavoidable please do not leave them unattended. We thank parents for their support.

Student IDs

Keep the student IDs in a safe place over summer!

All students in Grades 3-11 were issued student ID cards this year which they were able to use in the Slices cafeterias. It is important that you keep these IDs in a safe place over the summer as they will remain valid at the start of the school year and until such time as new IDs are printed and issued.

IMPORTANT: TRANSFERING SCHOOLS WITHIN DUBAI

There are new KHDA guidelines in place that now require all students who are moving to another school within Dubai to obtain a transfer certificate (TC) from their current school in order to complete the registration process in their new school. For those leaving Dubai American Academy, please ensure that you have requested this TC from our Government Relations Office. There is a 120AED fee that must be paid at accounts and proof of payment must be submitted to our Government Relations Executive Soheir Mohamed. Ms. Mohamed will notify you once the leaving certificate is ready for collection. All TCs are expected to be available for collection by mid-July. In order to ensure that we process and issue your Transfer Certificate and there are no undue delays, kindly ensure that you clear all outstanding accounts with the school. For further questions regarding the transfer certificate process, kindly contact Soheir Mohamed at S.MOHAMED_DAA@gemsedu.com
