SUPERINTENDENT'S PERSPECTIVE
Dear DAA Families,
In the next few editions of SPOTS, we will be sharing exciting news about our plans for the 2022-2023 school year. This week I am thrilled to spotlight our new Elementary Principal, Mr. Mike Gilmour. Mike joins the DAA family with over fifteen years’ experience in education, with the last six as an elementary principal in Singapore. He worked at the GEMS World Academy in Singapore and was touted as a student-centered leader, effective communicator and developer of a positive school culture. He holds a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Western Cape and a Master of Education from Monash University.
Please view this short video that Mike has prepared to introduce himself to our community:
Mike published his first book, The Power of Rapport, in 2019.
While we are excited about next year, we must stop and reflect on the incredible leadership of Mr. Craig Cantlie over the last 4 years. Craig has served as a visionary leader that has led the development of an exceptional elementary program that embraces an Inquiry-Based/Design Thinking Model of Learning. Learners utilize technology as an educational tool and innovative thought is fostered in our Apple Distinguished School.
Mr. Cantlie, you will be missed!
Mr. Gilmour will continue to have the support of our wonderful elementary leadership team of Mrs. Nathalie Salameh, Mrs. Noha Bishara, and Mrs. Tooshna Gandhi.
My very best,
Tammy Murphy

GEMS Education truly believes in fostering a life-time of opportunities. Our students enjoy access to the best education, opportunities and guidance at school. But why should the support stop there? With GEMS For Life, it doesn't.
The GEMS for Life program will help deliver on this commitment and expand on our world-class support beyond education to all aspects of life for all members of the GEMS community – past, present and future.
The below website showcases the vision for the program, as well as the 360-degree services being offered to support university transition, careers, alumni and everything in-between:
This is where the GEMS for Life journey begins – and we look forward to giving families and students of GEMS a world of lifelong advantages and lifestyle benefits that are unparalleled.
