DAAPA CLUBS

HIKING CLUB

This morning DAAPA’s Hiking Club reached two challenging summits!

Al Shahs (330 Meters) and Al Rabi (400 Meters) each with spectacular views of the Gulf of Oman and the city of Khorfakkan.

During the winter months, DAA Parents meet at morning drop off, car pool to the hike location, and then set off on an adventure. The trail today allowed us time to get a rewarding cup of coffee at the end of the hike for the car ride back to school. We arrived back to DAA in plenty of time for pick up.

If this sounds like a good day out for you, please join us for our next adventure!  https://chat.whatsapp.com/HDANYMEmlPrDtLcBSoEVx6

BOOK CLUB

The DAAPA Book Club is a long-standing parent club that meets once a month, right after morning drop-off. Each month, we vote to select a book to read from a wide range of genres.

DAAPA Book Club January reading: The God of the Woods by JT Greathouse

✨ Rating: 4.0/5 ✨

We started the year with this fiction novel that sparked a great conversation. Set in the Adirondack mountains in 1975, the novel tells unique stories of women that each have their way to survive challenges, the author explores the themes of identity, power, sacrifice, and the inescapable force of nature.  The writing style kept us readers on the edge as it drew us into a mystical environment filled with secrets and resilience. Some found the pace to be slow, but the character development was well done. Without giving too much away, we felt the ending to be ambiguous, allowing each reader to interpret it differently.

February’s Book: The Spy and the Traitor by Ben MacIntyre

Do join us for a lively, engaging discussion and discover incredible books you might not have picked up otherwise.

Movie Club

If you love going to the Cinema, this is the group for you! Recently the movie club met for a matinee while the kids were at school, which worked out well. We dropped off the kids at school, met over coffee at the mall to get to know each other and made our way to the cinema. After the movie we had plenty of time to make our way back to school for pick up. It was a fun and truly enjoyable day out, please join us!
