Coffee Mornings

In October we will be hosting our second series of Zoom drop-in sessions for new parents by school division, details on dates & times will follow shortly. We’re also planning to host a second virtual Coffee Morning for all parents later in the year so please watch this space!

daapa GENERAL ASSEMBLY

We had a record attendance at our virtual DAAPA General Assembly held on 15 September. Thanks so much to everyone that joined the meeting.  We would like to extend a special Thank You to all parents who volunteered to be part of the DAAPA team this year. The following members have been elected by voting as the DAAPA Executive Committee for the school year 2020/2021. Please join us in welcoming both the returning and new parents. We look forward to an exciting year ahead - Together We Can!

Parent WhatsApp Groups

We hope you have all been able to join the Parent WhatsApp Groups for the respective grades of your children. If you are not part of your year group yet but would like to be added, please get in touch with DAAPA and give us your name, mobile number and the grades of your children and we will make sure to send you an invite to join.

Given the volume of messages on our Parent WhatsApp Groups, just a kind reminder to please respect the group posting hours between 6:00am and 9:00pm and to be mindful of the language used so we can support each other in the best possible way with helpful information. We also kindly ask everyone to keep messages relevant to our school community and to refrain from posting information from other schools. Many thanks for your support.

ELEMENTARY PARENT CONNECTIONS

This year more than ever, building a connected community takes on new meaning.  If you are a DAA elementary parent, and would like to connect with other parents from your child's grade level, feel free to join your relevant year group via the links below. 

Nationality & Language WhatsApp Groups

If you would like to connect with DAA parents from the same nationality or language, there are a number of active WhatsApp groups within the community that you can join. We are currently putting together an overview of the various groups that are already active and have listed some of the groups for which we have known admins below.  If your country or language group is not listed below, but does have an active group, please do let us know and send us the WhatsApp group link with the name of the country or language and we will add it to our overview. In the next edition of SPOTS we will provide a full listing of all the groups we have received information for.  

Should there not be a group for your country or language yet, you are most welcome to start one and send us the details so we can let everyone know. Our Parent Relations Executive Hilda Tabrizi can also assist by sending an email with the invitation to join the group to all registered parents of the nationality to reach them directly. These groups will come in handy when for our annual International food Festival (IFF) as well!

Parent-led Clubs

Last year we launched a series of parent-led clubs covering a wide range of activities from the Food Network, Movie Club and Book Club, to the Yoga Club and Toast Masters, and we are keen to get these going again this year as well. Due to Covid-19 and current regulations, the clubs will, for now, need to be run virtually and we are pleased to let you know that our Yoga Club will start soon via classes via Zoom. If you would like to start a parent-led group, please contact us at DAAPA and we can help you set this up. This is a great way to connect with other parents in the DAA community based on shared interests and hobbies.
