ELEMENTARY

April 15, 2022

Dear Elementary Families,

Welcome back from Spring Break. We hope you had an enjoyable time on holiday and wish you a wonderful Ramadan ahead.

Looking forward into this term we have a number of exciting events happening throughout the next few months.

April

Tuesday, April 19 we will be taking photos throughout elementary. Please make sure your child is in their full uniform and looking their best on this day.

Our Islamic department has created a host of Ramadan related learning opportunities for our students to engage in throughout the month.

Our final date for indicating re-enrollment is upcoming. After that date we will welcome the new families currently on our wait list to the DAA community.

May

We will open our Input for the 2022-2023 School Year process to enrolled families. This is an opportunity to share information you would like considered as we engage in class placements for the new school year.

The elementary production of Beauty and the Beast will have its world premiere.

We begin our final round of MAP assessments. These will continue into June.

June

On Tuesday, June 7th at 8:00am we will host a parent coffee meeting for parents. In this meeting we will virtually introduce your new Elementary Principal for 2022-2023, Mr. Mike Gilmour. We will send more information on this closer to the date.

We will have the Grade 5 Completion Ceremony and grade level/class recognitions of the milestone of finishing another year of school.

Finally, as we enter into the final term of learning there are two things I would like to share with you.

First, we recently submitted our application to renew our designation as an Apple Distinguished School. I wanted to share with you one aspect of our application as it demonstrates the amazing work our staff and students do as creators and collaborators of EDtech.

Second, some special moments this year have been a return to aspects of school that foster community and a holistic development of our students. This is best exemplified in our buddy classes, field trips, PE/Fine Arts days like Funtasia, learning showcases for parents and Grade 5 Outdoor Education. Please enjoy these videos from Grade 5 Outdoor Education that demonstrate the power of events such as these. One is a slideshow, the other interviews about the trip.

Thanks for your continued support. It is going to be an excellent third term!

Sincerely,

Craig Cantlie

KG2 Learning

Children have been excited to come to school after the spring break. We would like to thank our class mommies for decorating the classroom outdoors with the Ramadan decorations to celebrate and honor Ramadan. We would also like to thank one of our moms for giving us an Easter basket for the classroom to celebrate Easter.
