MIDDLE SCHOOL

November 4, 2021

Dear DAA Middle School Families,

We had a wonderful Spirit Week in our middle school!  Our Student Council surveyed the student body to see how they wanted to show their spirit!  Students had a great time participating in the various dress-up days.  It really reinforces friendships and a healthy camaraderie between our students (and teachers)!  A huge thank you to our StuCo and teacher sponsors for putting this together, and to DAA MS for showing your spirit!

parent teacher conferences

Our virtual Parent/Teacher Conferences will be held on November 16, 17, 18 via Zoom.  As a result, there will be no school on those dates.  We will be sending out the sign-up link on Tuesday, November 9.  We see these conferences as a great way to connect with families about how students are performing academically and socially in classes.  We hope to see you there!

map scores

As you know, our students have been working hard to complete all four MAP tests recently.  Our teachers use these scores, along with our internal assessments, to look at trends across the grade levels and classes, analyze their implementation of the curriculum, and collaborate with their teaching partners on how to best move each student forward.  You will be receiving your child’s report on November 15, so you are able to have a look before teacher conferences.  Feel free to ask your child’s teacher any questions you may have about the results.

slices cards

Slices Catering

All students should now have their DAA ID cards and should take them to Slices to make purchases.  It is much faster to use the card than cash, so please top up your child’s Slices account to help with the efficiency of purchases at lunch. If you have any questions, please contact Mikhail at mikhail@slices.ae.

technical issues

If you are still having technical troubles, please make sure to raise a ticket if the teacher is unable to help your child with a fix.  Send an email to studenthelpdesk@gemsdaa.net and they will help resolve the issue.

I hope you all stay well,

Middle school Online art exhibition

Middle School artists have been working very hard for the past 10 weeks to create a diverse range of artworks. Many of these are currently on exhibition around the middle school. We have created this online exhibition so parents and the DAA community can also view the artworks too! Enjoy. Link to exhibition slides.
