FROM ELEMENTARY SCHOOL
December 13, 2018
Happy Holidays Everyone!
What a month December has been as vigorous student learning has continued in our classrooms and community events such as our Holiday Concert have taken place.
Thank you to all the parents who have contributed so generously to our class parties over the last week and to DAAPA for another amazing elementary event with the winter carnival. It was wonderful to see so much joy on the faces of our students, staff and parents. We are truly blessed to have such a supportive (and creative) parent group!
This week you will have received your child’s report card. As an elementary school team we were very proud of these reports as our teachers put in great effort to ensure the narratives of the report truly reflected our students as learners, and provided the supports to ensure they rise to the challenge of next trimester.
With that, we hope you all have a wonderful winter break here or abroad, and look forward to welcoming you back to the school on Sunday, January 6th at 7:40am. Looking forward to seeing how many students are able to join the 100% Club in trimester two!

Early Years Parent Morning with Parenting Coach Irini Girgis - January 20 @8am
Who is Irini Girgis?
Irini Girgis, the founder of Kids Summit, is a Child Behavioral and Parenting Coach. She has an 18 &16 years old son & daughter.
Irini has a Child Psychology Diploma from Brentwood University, UK, coupled with Neuro-Education courses. As a mother, she experienced hands-on challenges as well as enjoyable aspects of the unparalleled journey of parenthood. Throughout the years and her ongoing experience as a teacher, she has believed that every child’s needs should be looked at from a holistic perspective. Understanding the root cause of some of the challenges the children and parents face, and how to overcome them became her purpose.
What will she be talking about?
"In order for you to understand why your child acts the way s/he does, you need to better understand the characteristics of her/his age group."
Irini will be with you on Jan. 20th, 2019 to help you identify whether the challenges you see are expected milestones for your child's age, or, if necessary, to be looked at from a different perspective. She will also give you practical techniques that will help you deal with these challenges and leave you more empowered as a parent.
We hope that you will join us!

National Hobby Month Guests in the Elementary Library
January is National Hobby month and in the Elementary Library we would love to hold after school events each week to have parents share one of their hobbies that then students can learn about and get books about. For example, it can be any type of hobby such as arts and crafts, sports and recreation, or just something you are passionate about studying. The idea of this project is to promote positive hobbies to students through personal sharing. If you are interested in volunteering and doing a short 15-20 minute presentation or demonstration, please contact Janelle Wren at email@example.com or stop by the first floor Library to speak in person. We greatly appreciate your involvement!
