DAA Celebrates Tolerance
In honor of the Year of Tolerance initiative, DAA’s Zayed Crew has been hosting mini events called Bridges Café which aim to spread and celebrate the UAE’s message of tolerance, respect and cultural exchange. This week, the DAA community defined tolerance in a multitude of languages displayed near the Atrium’s Coffee shop! As we continue to celebrate our Diversity, we are looking for parent volunteers who might be interested in one of the following:
1- Teaching members of our school community about their folk dance in a one-hour session
2- Joining a multicultural band with a mini performance planned for the last week of April
3- Joining a group of DAA artists in creating a DAA Tolerance Collage
If any of the above initiatives sound like something that you would like to contribute to or if you have any additional ideas, please feel free to contact Noha Bishara at firstname.lastname@example.org or Cheryl Haney at C.email@example.com
Thank you for your continued support.
athletics and activities
There has been so much going on here at DAA with Athletics that if you blink you will miss something. All of teams have gotten off to a great start, including a great win for our Varsity Softball team vs ASD, Badminton winning most if not all of their matches, and the Track team setting personal bests at the ASD Relays. It is great to see the hard work that is being put in at practice coming to fruition on the field, court and track. We even had two firsts in DAA Athletic Department History, the first game ever played in girl's fast pitch softball, a week later the team’s first ever win at fast pitch softball vs bitter rival ASD and U14’s playing their first ever badminton match. Please see some photos from some of the action.

They will not run during Ramadan, but will resume for two weeks only after Eid Al Fitr.
Please find here the scheduled list of Internal Activities for K2-5!
Term 3 External ASAs (K-8)
ES and MS External ASA Registration Fairs take place on campus in the first floor Atrium, on Sunday March 17 from 2:30 - 3:30 pm and Monday March 18 from 7:15 - 8:15 am. Term 3 External ASAs will start immediately after Spring Break, but will continue throughout Ramadan. These ASAs will last for 8 sessions. However, parents have the CHOICE of signing up for 4 sessions, or 8. Please attend the Registration Fairs where you can ask the Providers directly any specific questions.
The ACS Athens Swimming Cup 2019 competition was highlighted by our 5 podium finishes by Emma Cardozo Baglietto (Gold and Bronze), Paige Sagris (Bronze)and Emre Ozer (Bronze and Bronze) but the entire squad performed tremendously during both days. Many of them received personal bests or succeeded in achieving a technical change they have been trying to make.
Well done Leopards!!!
As you know DAA is a proud member of MESAC and our students either travel or host events with our partner schools. These tournaments and events are wonderful experiences for not only our students and coaches, but can be wonderful for our community.
We are hosting MESAC Forensics from April 18th to April 22nd and we are looking for parents who would be interested in judging during this event. It is a requirement that the host school has a pool of at least 40 judges, we would like to make sure we reach that goal. While it sounds like a daunting task it is actually easy and all criteria is outlined. We will also host a judging session after the Spring Holiday so you can see how it works. Once the final schedule has been completed it will be published. If you are interested please keep the following days in mind Friday April 19th and Saturday April 20th. You would be asked to make a commitment for up to 4 hours. Those who have public speaking backgrounds would be excellent, but is not necessary. If you are interested please contact me or Yvonne Sidani directly. Email firstname.lastname@example.org or email@example.com
