Dubai American Academy is so fortunate to have dedicated parents and educators that serve on our Local Advisory Board (LAB). This year we have added student voice to the Board by adding our two HS Student Government Co-Presidents to the Board.
Our diverse and thoughtful team is comprised of the following members:
- Amr Albialy, Chairperson
- Dr. Saliha Afridi, Inclusion Governor
- Alzeta Strazimiri, Parent
- Hananah Zaheer, Parent
- Ghadeer Alsayouf, Parent
- Eman Qadumi, HS Student Government Co-President
- Nicholas Hensel, HS Student Government Co-President
- Tammy Murphy, DAA Superintendent/CEO
- Ben Voborsky, DAA Deputy Superintendent
- David Stegall, GEMS Vice President of Education
- Stuart Walker, GWA Superintendent/CEO
The LAB functions primarily as an advisory board and holds an important strategic role in overseeing the achievement of the school’s strategic aims and objectives. The LAB will:
· Understand and uphold the school’s and GEMS vision and values
· Monitor, advise and support the school on matters of strategy and policy
· Help monitor the school’s standards and performance
· Support the school and the Principal and seek to provide wise counsel.
Members are a group of experienced and skilled individuals from diverse backgrounds, who add a great deal to improve the school’s performance. Members are mindful of the role and responsibilities of the Principal, and understand and appreciate the relationship of GEMS to the school.
The LAB is not involved in financial matters, appointing staff, the day to day running of the school, admissions, individual issues or grievances, or any other matters which are the remit of GEMS or the school’s leadership.
On Monday, November 26th, some members were able to tour classrooms and interact with our students to see our strategic goals in action.
How many schools are fortunate enough to have a golf simulator?
High School students clearly able to articulate their learning.
Thinking deeply in middle school science stations on the lab.
We were impressed by the writing in the elementary Arabic A class.
DAA is grateful for the commitment and diverse viewpoints that strengthen the learning of our students!
My very best,
